Accessibility Policy
We have taken actions to ensure that people with disabilities will be able to move about safely and easily at our events and festivals. The venues we utilise are wheelchair accessible. We encourage site visits and touch tours, should anyone require them in advance of the show, in order to become familiar with the environment.
We arrange early entry to shows to ensure that those with limited mobility or a disability are comfortable and confident with the layout.
For the Spiegeltent Festival we have a T-Coil Loop Induction system throughout the Spiegeltent in order to aid those with hearing loss or limitations. The hearing loop provides a magnetic, wireless signal that is picked up by the hearing aid when it is set to ‘T’ (Telecoil) setting. Should you have any queries about this system, please do not hesitate to contact us in advance of the show.
Wexford County Council provide a a number of blue, accessible parking bays around County Wexford, Details of all accessible parking bays here.
Accessibility Requirements & Eligibility
At large scale events such as Park Live or Live at the Breakwater, they are usually standing events. However, in order to provide equal opportunity for everyone to enjoy the shows, a viewing platform has been installed. This is a designated, raised platform with a ramp that provides an area for wheelchair users and accessible seating. Priority must be given to those who need to access the designated area most. It is, therefore, essential that proof of disability is provided at the time of booking in order to access the viewing platform. Proof of disability documentation includes:
Letter from a medical professional, including a doctor’s note or a letter from an occupation therapist
- An LTI Card (Long Term Illness)
- Letter or report from an aural specialist confirming that hearing loss has been recorded at 70 – 95 dBHL or less.
- Blind or partially sighted registration certificate from your ophthalmic surgeon or letter from the NCBI or similar.
- A personal letter from the GP, community nurse or social worker.
- Copy of a blue badge (both sides required)
Seating on the viewing platform will not be available for those accompanying a person with a disability. No loose seating is permitted in any area of the venue or site. It is against fire safety regulations as it is an obstruction in the event of evacuation.
At Wexford Spiegeltent Festival, some of our shows are fully seated shows and some of our shows are standing shows.
For seated shows, there is seating available to all and wheelchair users are seated with their group.
For standing shows, no loose seating is permitted. It is against fire safety regulations as it is an obstruction in the event of evacuation. Seating is limited to booth seating, so priority must be given to those who need it most. It is, therefore, essential that proof of disability, as listed above, is provided at the time of booking.
