Wexford Winterland

The Wonderous Wexford Winterland

The Wexford Winterland Festival, from November 25th to January 7th,  includes festive fun for all the family this Christmas with the return of Wexford People Wexford on Ice and the magical Christmas Express.  New this year, is Santa’s North Pole Experience, transporting you from Wexford Quay to the wonder of the North Pole!

The Wexford Winterland Festival kicked off in a riot of colour, music and excitement with the spectacular Winterland Parade trailing through the streets of Wexford that ended on the Quay with the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights.  Cinderella, from Wexford Pantomime Society was guest of honour in the Parade, along with Prince Charming, Buttons and her Ugly Sisters, who were racing to try to turn on the lights before Santa!  Fortunately, Santa succeeded in taking to the stage on Wexford Quay before the Ugly Sisters.   The countdown commenced and Wexford was lit up – not just by the twinkling festive lights but also by a wonderful, surprise fireworks display!

Wexford on Ice
The Wexford People Wexford on Ice, one of Ireland’s biggest and best ice rinks, runs until 7th January.  Winter in Wexford wouldn’t be complete without a skate and this beautiful ice rink against the spectacular backdrop of Wexford Quay.  Group bookings are available for birthday parties, school groups and staff nights out.  Sensory and wheelchair friendly sessions take place every Saturday morning where the music and lighting is turned down.
