These are sensory friendly sessions where the music is turned down and the lighting is adjusted. Numbers are also limited for these sessions to ensure a pleasant, fun skating experience for everyone.
School Skate
School’s out for Christmas and a trip to Wexford on Ice is a great, fun way to wind down the year!

Each School Skate session includes the following:
- 45 minute skate session and skate hire
- An Ice Rink Marshall on the ice at all times.
- Nervous or first time skaters ? Don’t worry – we have stability aids available
- School Skate sessions are subject to availability and must be pre-booked.
- We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your allotted skate time to allow for skate allocation and safety brief
- Teachers skate for free
*Minimum of 20 and a maximum of 150 skaters per session.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ice Skating is a fun and enjoyable activity and is a lot of fun for the entire family but it does present some risks, especially for inexperienced skaters.
Remember that you skate at your own risk and, with that in mind, following our safe skating advice will ensure that your visit to Wexford on Ice is enjoyable and that the possibility of an accident is minimised. Ice Marshals are present on the rink at all times during all sessions and you are required to adhere to our safe-skating guidelines.
If you are new to skating or have young children it is best to take them during a time when the rink is less crowded. You can DM us or email us at boxoffice@lantern.ie to find out when the rink is not at its busiest.

Safety FAQs
Are sessions supervised?
Ice Marshalls are present on the rink during all sessions and you are required to adhere to the safe skating guidelines.
Do I need special clothing?
Do wear gloves. Bring a thick pair of socks, these will ensure that your feet are comfortable while skating. Trailing clothing is not permitted whilst skating. We recommend that you use a helmet. Helmets are available at the rink or you can bring your own helmet if you wish. You can also bring elbow pads and knee pads.
Can I bring my camera?
The use of cameras, phones, music players or any hand-held equipment is not permitted whilst skating.
General FAQs
Do you post out tickets if I book online?
No, if you book online then your tickets are sent to the email address that you specified when making the booking. We don’t post tickets. There is no need for you to print these tickets, you can download them on your phone in advance of arriving at the rink.
How long do the Ice Skating sessions last?
Each session is 45 minutes and starts on the hour. Please arrive 20 minutes before the session starts to get your ticket if you need to and get your skates on.
Do you have a cloak room?
Yes we do, it costs €2 to use this facility.
Do I have to book or can I just turn up?
We recommend that you book for peak times. However, you are welcome to turn up and there may be tickets available but they are not guaranteed.
What’s the maximum age for a Child Ticket?
Children’s tickets are for ages 16 and under. Please note that an adult needs to be in the vicinity of the rink for the duration of the session for children between the age of 3 and 12. There must be at least one adult per group of 12+ children on the ice.
How old do children have to be to skate alone?
Children must be at least 13 years of age to be left alone.
Is it suitable for young children?
Children aged 3 or older can take part, once they are very solid on their feet. We have special penguin skate aids available in our kids’ rink to help. For younger and less experienced children we recommend you bring them during a quieter session. DM us or email boxoffice@lantern.ie for more information. Unsure? Why not bring them along for a look before purchasing your ticket.
If I have booked tickets and can’t make it, what happens?
We have a no exchange or refund policy for Wexford on Ice tickets. If you cannot make it we suggest that you try to give your tickets to someone else.
Do you provide skates and what is your largest size?
Skates are provided and included in the price. Our largest size is adult UK 13. You can wear your own skates but our ticket prices remain the same. Own skates will be checked on arrival before entering the ice.
Are you insured if I fall and injure myself?
Wexford on Ice takes all reasonable care to ensure your comfort and safety, however this is an ice skating rink, where falls are likely to occur. Consequently, we do not accept any liability whatsoever for injuries sustained while ice skating. Use of the facilities is entirely at the user’s own risk and there is no insurance cover for injuries which occur while ice skating.
Is there an admission fee if I’m not skating?
There is no charge for entry to the event for spectators.
Do you provide skating aids on the ice for inexperienced skaters?
Yes, we provide a number of dolphin skating aids for the main ice rink. We recommend that these be booked in advance to guarantee availability. Penguin skating aids are available for the kids’ rink.
Is the ice rink wheelchair accessible?
Yes, all sessions at Wexford on Ice are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs can be wheeled directly onto the ice. Companion tickets are available free of charge. Skates for companions are not necessary.
